Lottery agents are instructed to sell lottery tickets as per terms and conditions. The Lottery department has a wide distribution network. It has 55,414 agents and above 1.5 lakhs retailers. Lottery agents are middle men who purchase lottery tickets. A person who applies in the form along with Rs 335 fees and two passport size photos at the district lottery office can become lottery agent. Any person who is above the age of 18 years can become an agent. The commission of the agency is 10% of prize money.Becoming an agent is very simple. It helps unskilled persons to find income for their family.The initial registration for lottery agency is valid for a calendar year. Then the agent can renew his agency.The fees for renewal is Rs 50 per year. Now agencies are issued only from district lottery offices.
The price winner can take 63 percent of prize money. While the agency commission is 10 percent of the prize money the income tax would come up to 30% of money after the agency reduced a Commission. Agencies are allotted from district offices. It is easy to identify the office to which an agent belongs as the agent code is issued to every agent. The directorate and each district office has a specific code. This code is given in front of the agency number.

If the agent is acting in contravention of any provision of the act which is detrimental to the public interest,the director has the power to suspend an agency.Affected person may submit an appeal to the secretary within 30 days. The agents do not conduct the sale of tickets online without permission of the director. Physical sale of tickets is only permitted.They can deliver tickets to the subagents, agents or public immediately. Tickets can be purchased by registered agents by DD,exchange of prize winning tickets, remitting cash or credit on presenting bank.
There is a Kerala State Lottery agent and self welfare fund board. It is established for the social and economic upliftment of State Lottery agents. There are 11 members in the welfare fund board. Four official members included an additional secretary to the Labour department.state lottery director,additional secretary to finance,and the Tax Department secretary. Seven members are appointed by government order representing the position of State Lottery agents.
The director of the State Lottery department is chief executive officer of the State Lottery welfare fund board. The government allocated one percentage of total turnover of Kerala lottery towards the promotion of the state lottery. You can become a member of the welfare fund board. Your age should be between 18 and 60. Salespeople who are interested in joining to get the ticket account book from the district lottery Welfare Office. You can collect an Application form from the district lottery welfare fund office. Lottery agent welfare fund scheme was started in 1991. Every agent can enroll himself as a member after remitting the adequate fee as a monthly subscription. This scheme is reorganized by Kerala State Lottery agent and seller’s welfare fund.
